Danitrio Hyotan Hummingbird
This Danitrio hand painted Hummingbird on the Hyotan body depicts two birds in flight among nectar-laden flowers.
The detail work is exquisite and includes many techniques including inlaid raden by the artist Yusai.
This pen fills using Danitrio's convenient cartridge-converter system.
The contrast between the deep lustrous body of the pen and the vibrant highly colored birds and flowers is remarkable. The techniques include gold sprinkles into clear lacquer, finely painted pigments and raden, little pieces of abalone shell also imbedded in the lacquer and coated with this same traditional native urushi. (The lacquers used for all these pens comes from the sap of a tree native to western Japan and is collected with care and processed in much the same way it has been for hundreds of years.)
