Aurora Nibs
Just like Pelikan nib units, these Aurora nib units can be interchanged by you at home. (Please click here for the easy 'instructions' in green print.) The table below shows the writing with each Aurora nib as well as the width and height of each tipping surface. Notice that in the case of the Oblique, Stub and Italic nibs the width is much greater than the height. This provides the line width variation that so many of us like. (Since each monitor could show them differently; these samples are meant to indicate line width ratios only.)

* An oblique nib is cut shorter on the left side. From the top it looks like your left foot.
** A reverse oblique nib is cut shorter on the right side. From the top it looks like your right foot.
Both cuts require the pen to be rotated toward the short side for smooth performance.
$ Nibs with the dollar symbol require a $10 premium added to the price of each pen.
Except for the fine and medium, each of these tips was from the Aurora calligraphy set. We know from experience that there can be considerable variation in the sizes and ink flow of each nib, so be aware that sizes should not be treated as absolutes. Also, we can set these nibs for greater or lesser ink flow, adding to or diminishing the size of the mark. Note that the feed, the black part under the nib, is made of hard rubber, the preferred material ever since the 19th century.
