Aurora Optima Auroloide Emerald Green
Showing more variation in color than any of the other Optima celluloid pens, the green is actually green pearl, blue pearl and black. It shares the iridescent quality of the Blue and Burgundy, but its colors are more finely divided and clearly defined.
The ink viewing window is clearly visible below.
Green and gold may be the most classical of the celluloid pen combinations, with a history going all the way back to the beginning of the use of this fountain pen material in 1923.
The 14K nib, generally stiffer and less likely to be damaged than the 18K, offers the possibility of greater flexibility. It has been the standard throughout most of the history of fountain pens.

This pen comes with a solid 14K gold nib plated with rhodium, and is available in EF, F, OF, OFR, M, OM, OMR, B, OB,OBR, BB, Stub and Italic. We can add some flexibility to this already somewhat soft 14K nib ($65 extra).

Originally, iridescence was achieved by the use of finely ground fish scales added to celluloid when it was in its semi-liquid state. The flat particles align in such a way that they reflect light from below the surface and at particular angles. The same principle is at work today in Auroloide.
