Decapod Fountain Pen Un-Polished Shu (Red)

The Decapod is the shape. This name means ten feet or ten facets. "Writer" means with clip as seen below.
The facets of this fountain pen follow from end to end in a long smooth curve. It is a shape that can be described by pure geometry except that it is more complex. In the end it is the eye that this shape most satisfies.
The un-polished Shu (red) color has subtle shifts of color. The edges of each facet are a faint black line, next to the edges are brighter red color and in the center we see a darkening. The effect is a quiet resonance of color. This particular pen has the optional rhodium plated clip ($8) and rhodium plated solid 14K gold nib ($40).
The ten sided shape has another function. Just like a yellow pencil which evolved from a cylinder to a faceted shape, the Decapod is not likely to roll off a desk. At 5 7/8" capped and weighing 18.5 grams dry weight this pen is a pleasure to hold. It is light, strong and balanced.

The image to the left shows the end facets and edge color variation typical of the way urushi lacquer "breaks" on the Decapod pen body.

We provide a Platinum brand converter used to fill this pen with ink. One can also get the painted "goldfish" design for an additional $25.
