The Decapod TW shape is cut from a solid rod of sustainably harvested hard rubber and then coated first in many layers of shu (red) urushi followed by layers of tamenuri urushi lacquer resulting in one of the most remarkable color and shape combinations seen in any fountain pen. It is stunning to hold.
Functional as well as stylistic, the ten-faceted shape makes the Decapod Cigar TW less prone to rolling off of a desk than a perfectly cylindrical writing instrument would be. Ordinary pencils have used this design function for decades - it's even more useful in a writing instrument of this value and quality.
This pen is a pleasure to hold. Each pen is handcrafted in meticulously exact fashion. The smoothly reliable multi-thread barrel allows the cap and barrel to line up precisely on every other barrel thread.
Nakaya 14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flexibility.
Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script,
