The Nakaya Deskpen in Sumi Black is handcrafted from ebonite hard rubber and can be furnished with any of the standard range of Nakaya 14k nibs.
The Nakaya double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, or Two-Tone.
With a matte black finish and streamlined shape, the Nakaya Deskpen in Sumi Black is simulatenously understated and elegant. Multiple layers of Sumi charcoal ink are applied over a period of months to create the smooth dark surface of this pen.
Like all Nakaya urushi pens, each Desk pen is made of hand-turned ebonite hard rubber. The Sumiko surface is then cured and stabilized over a lengthy period. The natural substances used give this pen a warm, comfortable feeling almost like fabric in the hand. Sumi ink is a carbon based ink used in traditional Japanese brush painting. It is used here, combined with urushi lacquer, to achieve a deep rich matte black.
The Nakaya Deskpen is perfect for signing documents, addressing letters, or even as an everyday writer.
Nakaya pens can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter and can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available. The ruthenium-plated nib pictured here adds a modern, streamlined detail to the Sumi Black pen, although the full range of Nakaya nibs is available.
When the Nakaya Deskpen in Sumi Black is in uncapped position, it can be displayed in a matching deskpen stand, which is sold separately. Together the pair creates an elegant set that looks striking on any desk at home or work.
