Nakaya Piccolo Shu (Red) Polished

This is the brightest color that Nakaya offers in their fountain pens. It is no wonder that it shows so brightly as it is made up of many layers of red pigmented urushi lacquer. Each layer is applied to the surface, allowed to dry and then is polished before the next is applied.

This pen is available as a Cigar (with out clip) above, and a Writer (with clip) below.

The deep luster accentuates this short shape of the Piccolo.

A rhodium (shiny) or Ruthenium (flat) plated nib and clip are also available for this and any other of the Nakaya fountain pen.

The Nakaya nib, imprinted Nakata, the family name of the manufacturer is made of solid 14K gold.

Each of these nibs is suitable for our customization to extra flexible (an additional $65 charge). The medium, broad and extra broad tip can be customized into a cursive italic, stub or oblique point (an additional $55 for these customizations).
