Namiki Emperor
Autumn Flowers Fountain Pen
|
| |
| As stated on Namiki's web site, "Executed
in the charcoal burnished Togidashi-maki-e technique, the Emperor Collection represents
the pen maker's art at its finest. Exquisite interpretations of traditional Japanese
designs - Pavilion and Autumn Flower - are hand painted in gold, lacquer and vibrant
color pigments by the world's finest craftsmen... The Emperor Collection exceeds
the demands of even the most discerning collector and connoisseur."
A large pen at 6 13/16" capped, the barrel diameter is 11/16" while
the cap diameter is 13/16". This is the pen for the person who thinks the
Mont Blanc 149 is too small. |
|
|
No two of these pens are alike.
The lacquer work is laid on in fine detail. We
presume the insect's wings are pieces of abalone, a traditional material of the
lacquer artist. |
| Each
of these pens is signed by the artist with the organization on the right, "Light
of the Nation" in three characters, and the artists signature, two characters
on the left. The red character is a seal. |

This
scan of the back of the cap is only one of the areas on this pen where it's easy
to get lost in the details. |
|
The retail price for this pen was $6,500. It is long out of production. We have one pre-owned with a Broad nib and are offering it at $5375.00. It is in MINT condition with all the papers, boxes, and eye dropper. |
| |
Made of traditional Asian softwood, the discreetly sized presentation box
holds the pen in understated elegance. Beneath the pen platform, one finds the
eyedropper, filling instructions, and a sealed certificate of authenticity.
|
| With a glass pipette and a rubber bulb,
this eyedropper easily fills the barrel.
