Butterfly and Chrysanthemum
Limited to ninety-nine pieces worldwide, the Emperor Butterfly and Chrysanthemum fountain pen sold out immediately. Known as the Great Purple Emperor, the Butterfly design is regarded as a symbol of regeneration and revival. The Purple Emperor's valiant and magnificent appearance and it's stately beauty, has made it the national butterfly of Japan.
The pen depicts an adult Butterfly. It is beautifully displayed with plum-colored wings and Raden (mother-of-pearl) technique.
Evoking the richness off Fall, the Chrysanthemum is one of the flowers that epitomizes Shikunshi*, and is the symbol of autumn. Along with the cherry blossom, the Chrysanthemum is widely popular as one of the national flowers of Japan. This noble flower is illustrated on the pen through the gold and silver Taka Maki-e (raised lacquer) technique method.
The golden colors in this stunning arrangement are a reminder of the months when the sun hangs low in the sky, bouncing lazy rays off crisp deciduous leaves. This light provides blasts of mandarin, ruby, plum, silver, and gold....nature's true fireworks.

The body of the Emperor size pen has been decorated by the skilled artisan Michifumi using refined Maki-e techniques. A precision 18-karat gold nib ensures first-class writing quality and long-lasting performance. A special ink bottle designed specifically for this pen completes the majestic presentation. The pen is presented in an elegant gift box, the lid of which is decorated with a "Kaga Puzen", died silk, with the same butterfly and chrysanthemum motif, one of the most prestigious traditonal handicrafts of Japan.
