Namiki
Emperor Mandarin Duck |
|
|
Released in 2007, the Mandarin Duck
is another in the highly crafted designs that Namiki is known for. This is the
Emperor size pen, a handful and a very impressive writing instrument and work
of art. |
|
Autumn Maple adorns the cap while bamboo
shoots up from the end of the barrel. |
This
pen is available in Medium and Broad nibs. He have been about to offer a Fine
nib as well by special arrangement. Notice the now familiar Mt. Fuji design in
rhodium on this solid 18K gold nib. It writes with controlled ink flow and a very
smooth feel. | |
|

Notice
the use of Raden, pieces of abalone inlaid in the body of this pen to create the
flower highlights. Raden is also used as a textural application along with gold
fleck as seen with the image of maple leaves to the right. The control of
these textural elements is one of the qualities that we look for in the highest
level of Maki-e lacquer work. This pen is a fine example. | |
The Namiki Emperor Mandarin Duck is
made in very limited numbers. Please note that, as has happened with every other
Emperor series pen, this will sell out. When it does, we will not be able to get
more from our distributor. |
|
Bamboo
and pond pads below the Mandarin Ducks give variety to this composition. |
Notice the artist's signature to the
left of the bamboo on the barrel of this pen. Each of these pens requires the
highest level of skill and fine artisanship which Namiki is known for. |
The Retail Price on this pen is $10,000.
Our Price: $8,000.
