One of the most abstract of the
Yukari series, the Firefly Raden combines arcs of inlaid abalone
and gold dust, along with a very two illusive fireflies. Capturing
the iridescence of the firefly body was all but impossible with
our photographic methods. But, I assure you it is there. The same
size as others in the Yukari collection at 5 5/8", capped,
this pen is similar to a Pelikan M800.
"Hi
Pat and John! Firefly has flown to me about ten minutea ago - oh,
how glorious! I spy two, as well it should be (excuse mistakes,
I'm so electrified, as is the pen!). Quickly I filled her, and,
John, thank you; she writes like a dream. So much fire, so much
electricity - and the flashes of the hues that I love the best.
She is worthy of a Haiku Poem, and surely will inspire me. Thanks.
Both of you stay well. My fondest wishes, Helen" (4/11/05)
Notice the tiny pieces of abalone, lined up
in a gentle curve, representing the trajectory of the firefly
in flight. The sweeping grasses add to a sense of movement.
Each pen is signed in red after the calligraphic description
at the base of the barrel. No two of these are the same.
Because they are so precisely
made, these nibs are a delight to customize to italic and
stub configurations.
Mount Fuji is overlaid in white metal on
this 18K Medium nib. The Namiki pentagon logo shows on both
the nib and the clip in this scan. Available in Fine and
Medium points only, we find these nibs to be among the best
made in the world and, of course, exceptionally smooth. The ink converter on this pen is the best we have seen.
The Yukari Firefly Raden was as difficult to
capture with photography as the firefly itself is. The composition
appears continuous and mysterious as one turns the barrel in ones
hands. Details pop out of the black field much like fireflies
in the night.
Made of a light wood and red velvet-lined, the presentation
box includes a bottle of Namiki Ink.
We have SOLD the pen we had in stock. If you would like
