Namiki Yukari Gold Fish
|
| |
| The Namiki Yukari Gold Fish shows more
gold flake than any other in this series, using the long tradition of Maki-e (urushi,
hand painting and surface gold and silver application) to depict a goldfish swimming
past pond reeds. Namiki artists have produced a subtle effect with this traditional
motif. |
| |
| The overall proportions
of this pen are consistent with the traditional Namiki shapes. The Yukari Collection
at 5 5/8" is smaller than the Empreors' 6 13/16". It still feels like
a full size pen in the hand. |

The gold fish in this pen seems to float and flow among the
pond grasses. The sweep of the lines, never straight make one think of gently
moving water. The gold, the dark background and the shimmer of the red of the
gold fish combine to make a soft sensuous composition. | |

| The nib is of the highest standard
which is why, initially, we took up the brand. Available in F, M and B, this 18k
nib is imprinted with the Namiki scrollwork and the number 10, as well as the
Namiki pentagon hallmark in the lower left. Notice that lacquer with gold dust
is also applied to the clip, unifying the color with the rest of the pen.
The superior converter filling system, which holds more than any other we know
of, can be replaced by a standard Namiki cartridge for convenience. |

The presentation box is made of a hard wood in the form of a cylinder with a tight
fitting cap. It is a reasonably sized container with, in this case, a French certificate.
The Gold fish is no longer available from Namiki distributors.
