Pelikan Souverän Series

With all Pelikan models, the size of the pen is indicated by the number.

From top to bottom, in order to show relative sizes:  M1000 black, M850 black/vermeil (gold over silver)(this pen is the same size as the M800 directly below it), M800 red, M600 green, M400 blue, M350 black/vermeil and M300 green.

For example, in the Souverän series, the M300 is the smallest while the M1000 is the largest (slightly larger than a Mont Blanc 149).  The M600 pictured here, is a reliable work horse: well balanced with excellent ink capacity and a measured flow making it an extremely functional writing instrument. Pictured below, the M400 has all the qualities of the M600 but a little smaller with only slightly less ink capacity.  The M300 is smaller yet but with the same simple conservative style and excellent function.  People also like the M300 for its portability and usefulness in the flap of a daytimer.  It is an accurate scaling down of the full sized models.  The M800 is a full sized pen, comparable to the large pens offered by Waterman and Parker.  The M1000 is as big as they come.  It is a real handful for those who like a truly big pen.  We also offer the M1050, M850 and M650, with the Vermeil cap, gold over silver (whenever they are available). Please see the Price Chart below. The M700 and M900 Toledos are available as well.

The following table provides approximate and relative measurements for the Souverän series fountain pens. Small differences in size make a big difference in handling.

*This is the extra-flexible nib. Flexibility can be added to any style of point, whether fine, medium, broad or the various left-oblique and italic points. Also, we can put both flexibility as well as an unusual grind, possibly a sharper left oblique, on the same nib.  (Both operations, with the set up charge, $120.00)

To see examples of these nibs please go to the Pelikan nib page (click here).

Make italic tip on existing Pelikan nib

(this can be done with any nib)

$55 (includes pen charge of $20)

Increase flexibility of nib

$65 (includes pen charge of $20)

Make extra fine tip on nib

Pen charge is only applied once per pen.

$45 (not including pen charge of $20.) This operation is sometimes done along with increasing flexibility to create a Spencerian type nib, making the difference between the thick downstroke and the thin upstroke even greater.

NOTE:  It is important to realize that once we customize a nib, it cannot be returned to Pelikan for exchange. It can, however, either be re-tipped by us to other specifications, or another new Pelikan nib can be provided.  (We have, at times, sold one pen with multiple nibs.  These nibs are easily interchangeable at home.)  Once a nib has been made more flexible, however, it cannot be returned to its rigid form.
