Blue Planet Limited Edition |
| |
 |
| When we put the Pelikan Moon Goddess
LE pen on our website, we asked the question: Will this be the first in a series
of new designs? It seems the Blue Planet LE has answered with a Yes. |
 |
| This Blue Planet LE boasts a similar round
cap and identical elongated bill clip. However, unlike its
weighty 78-80g predecessors (the Hercules, Caelum, and Moon
Goddess) the Blue Planet LE weights in at a reasonable 64.4g. |
 |
Ever since Neil Armstrong took his first steps on the
moon and spoke his now famous words, mankind has been
searching for ways to grasp both the enormity of the
universe and the fragility of the Earth.
However, the Blue Planet LE is easy to grasp with its
smooth cobalt blue lacquered shaft and semi-flexible
interchangeable M1000 nib. It can be made even more
flexible for those who can be careful with a delicate
nib. Flexible tines along with a cursive oblique tip
can make a wonderful correspondence point.

The globe theme is carried through all the way to the
vermeil ends. Longitude and latitude lines create a
recognizable representation of the the Earth and the
way we measure it.

|
| |
| The cap band is
engraved with the Pelikan name and Ag 925, the symbol for sterling
silver. As you can also see, the silver is then gold plated. |
| In
commemoration of the beginning of life's evolution on
Earth approximately 540 million years ago, Pelikan will
only manufacture 540 of these pens worldwide.
The engraved edition number can be found
at the barrel-end. | |

Wispy and mysterious, the representation of the earth as
it is seen from space appears obscured by clouds. The
Blue Planet LE features an 18-carat gold nib, refined
with Rhodium and gold-plated sterling silver on the cap
and the end, giving weight to this captivating pen. | |
