Danitrio Densho Fountain Pens

The sleekly rounded Densho is a long eyedropper-filler fountain pen with a generous ink capacity. With a closed length of 5 15/16” and a barrel diameter of 11/16”, it is a comfortable fit for larger hands and provides a superb surface for Maki-e painting.

All Danitrio pens are available from us as special order items - pens already in stock with Danitrio will generally ship in one week or less.

Kuro-Keshi
Danitrio Densho Kuro-Keshi Fountain Pen
Simple and understated, Kuro-Keshi technique involves polishing the ebonite body and coating it with a light layer of black Urushi lacquer to prevent fading and bring up a low luster. The Danitrio Densho Kuro-Keshi retails for $1200 - our price $960 - click for more images

Tame-Nuri
Danitrio Densho Fountain Pens
In Tame-Nuri technique, semi-transparent amber-colored urushi is painted over a base color. As the natural urushi matures, the outer layer becomes more transparent and the underlying color shows through more brightly. Danitrio Densho pens are available in the dark red Shu-dame color seen above, as well as in Ki-dame (Yellow), Kuro-dame (black), Midori-dame (green), and Murasaki-dame (Purple). The Densho Tame-Nuri retails for $1400 in any of the colors listed above - our price $1120.

Roiro-migaki
Danitrio Densho Fountain Pens

Roiro-migaki technique utilizes a specially refined and oil-free urushi which is then burnished with a special charcoal in a process that can last for several days or more. Danitrio pens are made available in Roiro-migaki in Ao (Blue), Kuro (Black), Midori (Green), Murasaki (Purple, seen above), and Shu (Red). Danitrio Densho Roiro-migaki pens retail for $1400 - our price $1120.

Maki-e
Danitrio Densho Maki-e fountain pens
The Densho's larger size and sleekly rounded shape provides an ideal backdrop for Maki-e designs. Click here for specific examples of Maki-e available for order on the Densho model.
