The Sho-Hakkuku is, along with the standard tapered Hakkaku, one of Danitrio's octagonal fountain pens. With a closed length of 5.31" inches and a weight of 27.5 grams, this is a pen that will be a comfortable fit for most users. The eight-faceted shape displays both solid colors and complex motifs to great effect, and offers a particularly strong showcase for the Tame-nuri colors.
All Danitrio pens are available from us as special order items - pens already in stock with Danitrio will generally ship in one week or less.
In Tame-nuri technique, semi-transparent amber-colored urushi is painted over a base color. As the natural urushi matures, the outer layer becomes more transparent and the underlying color shows through more brightly.
The Sho-Hakkaku is also available in Tame-nuri finish in Kuro-dame (black), Midori-dame (green), and Murasaki-dame (Purple), not yet imaged.
Sho-Hakkaku collection pens are furnished with the 18k Danitrio #6 nib, available in Soft Extra Extra Fine, Soft Extra Fine, Soft Fine, Soft Medium, Soft Broad, and Soft Stub. Standard (not Soft) nibs are also available in Fine and Stub. These 18k nibs are well-suited to customizations such as Cursive Italic and Left Oblique - see our nib customizations page for more information.
