Nakaya Naka-ai Writer Toki-iro
The Nakaya Naka-ai Writer Toki-iro is being made available in only very limited numbers. Once all arriving pens have been pre-sold, it will not be made available on back order. Limit one pen per customer.
As with all Nakaya Urushi pens, each Naka-ai is made of hand-turned ebonite hard rubber, then sent to the Wajima region in western Japan for finishing with Urushi lacquer. Colors will vary slightly from pen to pen - no two of these hand-made pens will be exactly alike.

The double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, or Two-Tone - consult our Nakaya Nibs page for details.
Designed by Nakaya master pen designer Shinichi Yoshida in collaboration with Classic Fountain Pen's John Mottishaw, the Naka-ai, with its cone ends and tapered body, combines Nakaya’s original design features in a single model.
Nakaya pens can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter, and can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.
Notice the subtle pink color of the cap and barrel. "Toki" refers to the Japanese Crested Ibis, a bird once abundant in Japan but now on the verge of extinction. Covered with a veil of pinkish-white feathers, this bird is a Japanese treasure. The muted pink here resembles some of the Toki's coloring. | |
Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships.
