With its rose-pink color and compact shape, Nakaya's Piccolo Cigar Toki-iro fountain pen combines a unique finish with a classic form. Originally available only as part of a set of five Naka-ai Writer Limited Edition fountain pens which quickly sold out, we are pleased to announce that the Toki-iro color is now available in the popular Piccolo Cigar model.
"Toki" refers to the Japanese Crested Ibis, a bird once abundant in Japan but now on the verge of extinction. Covered with a veil of pinkish-white feathers, this bird is a Japanese treasure.
At a length of 5.12" when capped and a barrel width of .59", this hand-turned ebonite fountain pen fits comfortably in the hand. Notice the pink gold-plated nib pictured, which complements the Toki-iro Urushi finish and provides a sleek, monochromatic look.
The Piccolo model has softly coned cap ends, visible in the close-ups to the right and below. These cap ends provide aesthetic balance to the Piccolo Cigar Toki-iro fountain pen. Notice how the light reflects off of the rich Urushi finish.
The Piccolo Cigar in Toki-iro can be provided with any of Nakaya's solid gold 14k nibs, available inExtra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, and Extra Broad, with Fine Soft, Medium Soft, and Super Extra Fine nibs also available.
The Nakaya double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, and Two-Tone - consult our Nakaya Nibs page for details.
These smooth-writing nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex - see our nib customizations page for more information.
Nakaya pens ship in a solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script and lined with decorative rice paper. A fabric pen "kimono" and starter box of Platinum brand cartridges are also included, making this pen a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.
Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer. Consult our Nakaya Availability Chart, updated weekly, to see which pens we currently have in stock and available for immediate shipment, or simply to browse for pens by finish or motif.
Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships. See our nib set-up and optimization page for more details.
