The colors of Heki-tamenuri in particular are subject to the variation of hand made hues.  No two are exactly the same and a color shift can happen over time in the making of these pens.

The Metal Thread pens will be available as both clipless Cigar models and in the with-clip Writer model seen here. Note the metal threading at the front of the barrel - this, and the $100 reduction in the price, is the only difference between these Metal Thread pens and the traditional all-ebonite versions of these pens.

While the use of metal threading allows for slightly more efficient production by eliminating the need for the precise and time-consuming art of hand-turning ebonite threads, the rest of the pen is finished with the same painstaking attention to detail as any other Nakaya pen. Note how the underlying layer of green breaks through at the cap top.

The family name, Nakata, proudly identifies the Nakaya nibs.

If you didn't know to look for it, you might not even notice that the ebonite threading on most Nakaya pens has been replaced by a metal version, seen here in detail. But this small addition has a big impact, adding eight grams to the over-all weight of this pen and making it an excellent choice for those Nakaya owners who would prefer a slightier heavier writing instrument. The additional weight is in just the right place for balance.

Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen "kimono" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.

Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.
