The Nakaya Neo Standard in Toki-tamenuri is a classic example of this Japanese's company's approach to finish and design. Each handcrafted ebonite pen requires a minimum of six months to be completed, including lacquering in natural Urushi finish.

The ebonite used in Nakaya fountain pens is sustainably harvested from the Asian rubber gum tree, and the Urushi lacquer finish is also a natural tree-derived product. Each Nakaya pen is hand made on an individual basis, and no two will ever be exactly alike.
The pen fills using Nakaya's convenient cartridge-converter system, which allows for the use of Platinum brand cartridges or any bottled fountain pen ink. Each pen ships in a special soft wood presentation box which includes kanji-style decoration, a fabric pen kimono, a starter pack of cartridges, and a complimentary converter. The tasteful and attractive packaging adds to the value of Nakaya pens as beautiful and unique gift items.
