Produced in Namiki's artisanal workshop for Maki-e and Urushi work in Kanagawa on the west coast of Japan, the Yukari Royale Frog is the creation of artist Yumi Hayashi, who also has the distinction of being the first woman hired as a Maki-e artist by Namiki. Raden and gold powder are among the precious materials used to realize the motif. The frog is seen as a symbol of health, longevity, and good health in traditional Japanese folklore, and the design here features no less than three golden frogs in dynamic motion.
The pen utilizes Namiki's convenient cartridge-converter filling system, which allows for the use of either Pilot brand cartridges, or any bottled fountain pen ink when using the provided converter. The high volume Pilot CON-70 converter gives this pen an ink capacity rivaling that of many piston-fillers. An attractive presentation box, complimentary bottle of ink, and all papers add to the collectibility of this pen and also make it an exceptional gift item.
