Raden abalone shell has long been used as a material for traditional Maki-e art in Japan, and its use here creates a work both contemporary in appearance and yet grounded in techniques with a centuries-old pedigree. Maki-e artist Misa uses gold and silver powders along with the raden to create the astronomically-inspired scene.

The Yukari model uses Namiki's convenient cartridge-converter filling system - the pen can fill using either Pilot brand disposable ink cartridges, or any bottled fountain pen ink when fitted with the provided converter. A traditionally-styled wooden presentation box adds to the pen's long-term value and collectibility and also makes this an excellent gift item. Each pen will be carefully inspected, tested, and tuned by us before shipping to you.
