With its lustrous finish and sleekly rounded shape, the Danitrio Densho Shu-dame with Painted Clip fountain pen is a study in simple elegance. The underlying red color of this pen will show through more brightly as the Urushi lacquer finish matures, only growing more beautiful with age.

This eyedropper filler has a generous ink capacity of 3.0ml, allowing you to write for hours without a refill.

At a weight of 29.3 grams and a closed length of 6.0", this is an oversized fountain pen. The barrel diameter is a hefty 0.5", making it a perfect choice for those who prefer a full-sized writing instrument.

The Densho Shu-dame pen has been hand-finished by a skilled Maki-e artist
using multiple layers of natural Urushi lacquer.

Each pen is unique - no two, even in the same color finish, will ever be exactly alike. The understated shape and nuanced color evokes a quiet authority.

Note that hand-painted urushi on the pen's clip.

Here the clip is painted to match the reddish Shu-dame finish, creating a monochrome impression. The clip allows the pen to be securely affixed to a shirt pocket, and also functions as a built-in roll stopper.

As with most Danitrio pens, the artist signs the pen in kanji. Here the gold and red kanji graces the gripping section of the Densho Shu-dame.

The design on the face of the Danitrio nib started with the image of Kohai (光背), a halo often painted on the back of Buddhist statues. This was the idea of one of Danitrio's maki-e artists, Mr. Kenji Yamamoto. In Japanese Buddhism, fierce gods are often seen with a "flaming wheel" on their back, and the design is an off-shoot from this.

These 18k nibs are well-suited to customizations such as Cursive Italic and Left Oblique.

Unless requested otherwise, each pen you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships.
