Following the success of the M101N Tortoiseshell Brown and the M101N Lizard, the M101N Tortoiseshell Red Special Edition fountain pen revives a classic style with its decorative tortoiseshell pattern, deep red finish, and warm gold trim. We have managed to secure only a small number of these pens for our customers.

Tortoiseshell pattern has a long tradition in quality writing instruments, with its usage dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries, when actual tortoise shells were used for decorating jewelry and lacquerware. The M101N Tortoiseshell Special Edition uses cellulose acetate to mimic the tortoiseshell on the barrel in a time-intensive process that creates a striking pattern. The dark red on the cap ends is made from high quality resin, and adds a vintage feel.
This special edition fountain pen arrives packaged in a gift box with one bottle of 4001 royal blue ink. Both the ink bottle and the gift box use historic Pelikan motifs.
The specially inscribed 14k solid gold nib is particularly well-suited for our nib customizations, including the modification for added flex.
