Known for its strength amongst natural minerals, the black diamond is a powerful gem, and Waterman's Edson Diamond Black fountain pen is a worthy namesake. With its black resin body and matte platinum-plated cap, this fountain pen is subdued enough to be an everyday writer and yet also a pen with black tie presence. Introduced in 1993 and named after the company's founder, Louis Edson Waterman, this is Waterman's flagship pen.

From the elliptical band around the cap to the platinum-plated studs on the section, the Diamond Black has intricate details that lend an elegance to the streamlined shape. This is a larger but not over-sized pen that will be a comfortable fit for most users.
The Edson can be filled using international size ink cartridges, such as the Pelikan and J. Herbin cartridges we carry, or can be filled with any bottled fountain pen ink using the included converter. The clutch-cap mechanism allows for ease of use, and the satiny matte finish of the cap is highlighted by the glossy clip.
In some light the black resin in this barrel detail almost appears as a dark grey, which is characteristic of the black diamond in nature as well.
The Waterman Edson Diamond Black fountain pen is provided standard with your choice of 18k solid gold rhodium-plated nib.
These 18k nibs are well-suited to customizations such as Cursive Italic and Left Oblique.
Waterman has now announced that the Edson is being discontinued - we have a very small number remaining in stock, after which no more will be available.
Each pen is packaged in an attractive Waterman gift box.
