Set to "H" for hard allows for a firm consistent line and the smoothest possible writing experience, while "S" is for soft and allows for line-width variation by providing a more flexible writing point. With a full range of settings to choose from in between, the user can decide on the position which works best for the task at hand - a setting at "H," for instance, might be appropriate for quick note taking, while "S" turns the Justus into a distinctive signature pen.
As attractive in appearance as innovative in its capabilities, the Justus 95 features gold trim over a black resin striped pattern.
Just as the gold tab on Sailor Emperor nibs acts as a mini-reservoir near the nib tip, the tension adjuster bar on the Justus delivers added ink at-the-ready for fast strokes. The Justus also utilizes Pilot's high-end CON-70 converter which rivals the capacity of many piston-fillers.

At the "H" or hard setting, the tension adjuster bar provides maximum support for the nib, providing for smooth writing and a consistent line on the page.

The bar can also be adjusted to any point between these two maximums, allowing for multiple uses or a preferred setting.

At the "S" or soft setting, the tension adjuster is lowered, allowing the nib to flex and to provide for greater feedback and line variation.

We can add additional flex to the Justus 14k nib unit, and this increases the flexibility at both the "H" and "S" settings - at "H," the nib will be less rigid than an unmodified nib, while at "S," the nib will have even greater flexibility than would otherwise be the case.
