The Nakaya Long Cigar Ishi-me Kanshitsu Black fountain pen takes simplicity to new heights with its textured finish. Not only is it a visual delight, but it also adds a texture that feels pleasing in the hands. The sleek Long Cigar model provides an expansive surface area for this unique finish which appears volcanic in nature.

The Nakaya Long Cigar Ishi-me Kanshitsu Black fountain pen is handcrafted from ebonite and Urushi lacquer. It comes with solid gold 14k single-tone nib in your choice of tipping size. The double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, or Two-Tone .

This Nakaya fountain pen is made on a hard rubber base. A stone finish urushi material made from the sap of a Japanese lacquer tree is applied to the surface. The process of collecting the Urushi (sap) and applying many layers of lacquer to this fountain pen takes three months to complete. The craftsman sows Urushi powder onto the body, which makes a lot of grains on the surface due to surface density. After it has settled, he varnishes the body with lacquer several times to make the body harden. He sharpens these grains with charcoal and finishes with a black lacquer. It is truly an artistic craftsmanship to decorate a fountain pen with a stone-like appearance.

This is not a pen you would carry in your shirt pocket. Despite its length, it is fairly lightweight and achieves excellent balance in the hand.

Nakaya pens can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter, and can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.
Nakaya 14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex.
Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen ""kimono"" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand. Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.

Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships.
