Dressed up in a stone and silver finish, the Nakaya Long Cigar Ish-me Kanshitsu Suzu fountain pen achieves greatness by virtue of its streamlined design, excellent materials, flawless surface, and saturated colors. This is truly a unique take on a metallic finish.

The Nakaya Long Cigar Ishi-me Kanshitsu Suzu fountain pen is handcrafted from ebonite and Urushi lacquer. It comes with your solid gold 14k single-tone nib in your choice of tipping size.

The double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, or Two-Tone.

Shown here is the Long Cigar (without Clip) fountain pen in Ishi-me Kan-shitsu Suzu-Ishime (stone and silver Finish).

This Nakaya fountain pen is made of ebonite with a stone finish Urushi, a material made from the sap of a Japanese lacquer tree. The process of collecting the Urushi and applying many layers of lacquer to this fountain pen takes at least three months to complete. The craftsman sows Urushi powder onto the body, which makes a lot of grains on the surface due to surface density. After it has settled, he varnishes the body with lacquer several times to make the body harden. He sharpens these grains with charcoal and finishes with a silver lacquer, demonstrating a truly artistic craftsmanship.

This is not a pen that you would carry in your pocket. Even with its length, it is extrmely well-balanced in the hand. Its almost volcanic texture feels quite pleasurable to the touch.

Nakaya pens can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter, and can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.
Nakaya 14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex.

The heavy decorative rice paper, simple solid softwood shipping box and fabric pouch make a lovely presentation for Nakaya Urushi pens. Sensible and elegant packaging have long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.

Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.

Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships.
