The Nakaya Neo Standard Bamboo Woods manages to capture both the humble, delicate nature of the bamboo plant as well as its unshakable strength and hardiness. Please note that this pen is provided standard with the hand-painted clip seen here.

If you stand amidst a grove of bamboo plants you will notice that though the stalks will sway with the gentlest breeze, the plants remain firmly rooted in the ground despite the strongest winds. With a painted motif of amber leaves, a mahogany background, and gold dust details, this Neo Standard is as much a work of art as a fully functional writing instrument.

The conical Neo Standard model showcases the Tame-sukashi technique, in which clear Urushi lacquer is painted over the motif. Over time the bamboo woods will become more clear as the outer layers of Urushi mature.

A fine mist of gold dust adds texture to the color of this pen. See the stunning shades of amber, brown, and gold that reflect off of the light and bring the Bamboo Woods fountain pen to life.

The Nakaya Neo Standard Bamboo Woods is provided standard with your choice of solid gold 14k single-tone nib. These 14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex.
Nakaya pens ship in a solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script and lined with decorative rice paper. A fabric pen ""kimono"" and starter box of Platinum brand cartridges are also included, making this pen a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.

Because the Neo Standard model only comes as a Writer with a clip, Nakaya has also applied Tame-sukashi to the clip in order to ensure fluidity of the Maki-e design. It almost appears as if the clip camouflages into the bamboo woods itself.
Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.

Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships. See our nib set-up and optimization page for more details
