With its ""stone finish"" and earthy greenish-brown color, the Nakaya Neo Standard Ishi-me Kanshitsu Heki-tamenuri fountain pen is a pleasure to hold and touch. The surface has just the right combination of smooth and textured finishes to feel great between the fingers. This is an exclusive Nakaya color.

The double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, or Two-Tone - consult our Nakaya Nibs page for details.

The response to this new design has been highly enthusiastic. One of our customers says, ""This is the best shape that Nakaya has ever made."" This Neo Standard comes in the clip model only. Notice that the texture does not obstruct the barrel threads. This allows the cap to smoothly screw onto the barrel.

Because this stone-finish texture is carried through to the gripping section where it is really felt, the design of this pen utilizes its tactile properties to the greatest possible extent.

This detail highlights the contrast in color between the high spots and the deeper lacquer color between the ridges. As both pen body and finish are natural materials, some slight variations are to be expected - no two pens will ever be exactly alike.
The Nakaya Neo Standard can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter. Nakaya pens can also use Platinum brand high quality ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.

The Nakaya Neo Standard Ishi-me Kanshitsu Heki-tamenuri fountain pen is available with your choice of solid gold 14k single-tone nib in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, or Extra Broad, with Fine Soft, Medium Soft, and Super Extra Fine nibs also available. The Nakaya larger tip size14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex.
Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen ""kimono"" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.

Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.

Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships. See our nib set-up and optimization page for more details.
