Bathed in rich forest green Urushi lacquer, the Nakaya Neo Standard Midori fountain pen combines a unique finish with a highly ergonomic shape. The long, tapered tail and gripping section results in a full-sized pen that will fit comfortably in most hands.

The elegant profile of the Neo Standard and the way the cap and barrel fit together are a testiment to the designers at Nakaya.

As with all Nakaya ebonite pens, the Neo Standard in Midori has been hand-turned from naturally harvested hard rubber and is then sent to the Wajima region on the west coast of Japan for finishing in Urushi lacquer. As both pen body and finish are natural materials, some slight variations are to be expected - no two pens will ever be exactly alike.

The long gripping section is favored by calligraphers and those who spend hours at a time writing with a fountain pen.

The Nakaya Neo Standard can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter. Nakaya pens can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.

The Neo Standard only comes in the Writer model with a clip, which allows the pen to be easily affixed to a shirt pocket. Here warm gold nib and plating on the clip complements the deep green finish.

The Nakaya Neo Standard Midori fountain pen is available with your choice of solid gold 14k single-tone nib in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, or Extra Broad, with Fine Soft, Medium Soft, and Super Extra Fine nibs also available. The double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, or Two-Tone. Nakaya 14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex.

Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen ""kimono"" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.

Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.

Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships.
