The Nakaya Piccolo Cigar Blue Wave features a motif in raised relief with a textured surface. Elegant black Urushi lacquer is combed with a wave-like pattern. Each individual pen requires a year or more to be produced.

The Nakaya Piccolo Cigar Blue Wave Painting fountain pen is handcrafted from ebonite and Urushi lacquer, and comes standard with solid gold 14k single-tone nib in your choice of tipping size.

The double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, or Two-Tone.

The Nakaya Piccolo Cigar Blue Wave Painting fountain pen exploits the skill of a master Urushi craftsmen to create a textured surface that is soft to the touch and engaging for the eye.
Nakaya mixes some albumen into Urushi lacquer to make stronger viscosity. A special comb-like tool is used to scratch the Urushi surface to express waves. Because they are done by a master's hand, each one is unique. But there is a consistency to the wave pattern. The fountain pen comes to life with its textured surface that almost massages the hand during use.

The Nakaya Piccolo Cigar can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter. Nakaya pens can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.
Without a clip, the simple form of the Piccolo carries the texture of this pen with elegance. Lines representing waves wash over onto the softly coned end caps.

The wave pattern continues onto the gripping section as well. 14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex.

Though the full range of Nakaya nibs is made available, the ruthenium-plated nib complements the sleek design etched into the black surface.

Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen ""kimono"" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.

Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.

Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships.
