Nakaya Piccolo Cigar fountain pens are available in a range of colors. Hand turned from solid hard rubber rod stock, they are then lacquered with multiple layers of natural resins.

The Nakaya Piccolo Cigar Kuro-tamenuri fountain pen is handcrafted from ebonite and Urushi lacquer, and comes standard with solid gold 14k single-tone nib in your choice of tipping size.

If simplicity is the highest form of elegance, the Nakaya Piccolo Cigar Kuro-tamenuri fountain pen is it. This writing instrument achieves greatness by virtue of its streamlined design, excellent materials, flawless surface and saturated colors. Sleek, stealthy red-black Kuro-tamenuri on the finish provides an air of mystery and sophistication.

The Urushi tradition is historic and profound in Japan, where lacquer ware has adorned utilitarian objects for centuries. This technique, though painstaking, gives this fountain pen its deep lustrous sheen and subtle color shift. Though it may appear black at first glance, with time the Kuro-tamenuri color will change to reveal more of the red underlayers. You can start to see where the red breaks free from beneath the black Urushi on the gripping section as well as on the ""seams"" where the cap and barrel meet.

The Nakaya Piccolo Cigar can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter. Nakaya pens can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.
This is a more compact fountain pen than the Naka-ai or Neo Standard, yet will fit comfortably in most hands.

14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex. The double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, or Two-Tone.

Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen ""kimono"" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.

Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.

Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships.
