Nakaya Piccolo Cigar pens are available in a range of colors. Hand turned from solid hard rubber rod stock, they are then lacquered with multiple layers of natural resins.

The Nakaya Piccolo Cigar Matte Black Hairline fountain pen is handcrafted from ebonite and Urushi lacquer, and comes standard with solid gold 14k single-tone nib in your choice of tipping size.

The double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, or Two-Tone.
The Nakaya Piccolo Cigar Matte Black Hairline finish reflects light not as black but instead as a softer, more subdued shade. With its compact shape and velvety surface, this fountain pen is both modern and sophisticated.

To create this finish a light layer of clear Urushi lacquer is applied over ebonite. Like all Nakaya Urushi pens, the Piccolo Cigar Matte Black Hairline is made of naturally harvested, hand-turned ebonite hard rubber, then sent to the Wajima region in western Japan for finishing with Urushi lacquer. Final assembly is then accomplished in Nakaya's offices in Tokyo and at the Nibs.com office in Miami, where each nib is hand-tuned for the writing characteristics of the individual user.

Nakaya pens can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter and can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.

What makes this pen so special is the quiet authority that this material conveys. It is durable and not flashy while revealing the wonderful cone ended and tapered Piccolo shape.

This is a more compact fountain pen than the Naka-ai or Neo Standard, yet will fit comfortably in most hands without posting the cap.

14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex.

Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen ""kimono"" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.
Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.
Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships.
