Araishu in Japanese translates from ""shu"" for red and ""arai"" for laundry. The meaning of the combined word suggests a red that has been washed to the extent that it is no longer red. It is a faded red. The acceptance of a quality that comes with time is a hallmark of Japanese language. In this case when we embrace the passage of time and we have araishu, orange. Now available in the Piccolo Writer model, this promises to be one of the most popular finishes yet employed by Nakaya for their hand-turned ebonite hard rubber pens.

The ""writer"" model is more practical than the ""cigar"" model (without clip) for those who like to carry this pen in their pockets.

The Nakaya nib, imprinted Nakata, the family name of the manufacturer is made of solid 14K gold.
Each of these nibs is suitable for our customization to extra flexible. The medium, broad and extra broad tip can be customized into an architect's, cursive italic, stub or oblique point.
Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen ""kimono"" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.
